Foreign Language Test
  • Qualification for Examination
    - Students need to gain 6 or more credits through 2 or more enrollments.
  • Subjects for Examination
    - English for Korean students
    - Korean for international students
  • Pass Criterion
      In a test of general English and Required Test of each major subject,
    - Students of master program need to achieve at least 60% in total.
    - Students of Ph.D program need to achieve at least 70% in total.
  • Replacement of Foreign Language Test
    - Those who meet one of the following can be exempted from Foreign Language Test.
      At least 84(IBT) in TOEFL, at least level 6.5 in IELTS or at least 601 in TEPS (within 2 years from the test date).
Comprehensive Qualifying Examination for Thesis
  • Qualification for Examination
    - Students can take this exam when meeting all of the following.

    Master's Degree
    • 18 or more credits
    • 4 or more enrollments
    Doctoral Degree
    • 24 or more credits
    • 5 or more enrollments
  • Subjects for Examination
    - 4 subjects among required and elective subjects
    - The number of subjects on each category depends on major subject.
  • Pass Criterion
      Both master's and doctoral students need to achieve at least
    - 70% in a test of required subjects
    - 60% in a test of elective subjects
Thesis Submission
  • Selection a Thesis Advisor
    - Students, during the the second semester choose a thesis advisor.
    - Thesis advisors are approved by the Dean of the Graduate School.
  • Submission of a Thesis Plan
    - A thesis plan must be submitted within the third semester for a master's student, and within the fourth semester for a doctoral student.
  • Presentation of Thesis
    - Students, in the semester must present a thesis in puplic in April or November.
  • Evaluation of Thesis
    - Students can apply for the evaluation of thesis when meeting all of the following.

    Master's Degree
    • 24 or more credits in subjects by the end of the year
    • 3 credits in thesis research by the end of the year
    • passed the foreign language test
    • passed the comprehensive qualifying exam
    Doctoral Degree
    • 36 or more credits by the end of the year
    • 4 credits in thesis research by the end of the year
    • passed the foreign language test
    • passed the comprehensive qualifying exam
    • published at least one thesis in a nationwide academic journal
    - Period of Thesis Submission: May or November
  • Receiving Degree
    - If a student is approved of his/her thesis and passes the thesis defense, he/she is provided a degree.
